У меня Scottrade. $7 продать, $7 купить. Standard Т + 3 rule for stocks. (Basically 4 business days including the day of purchase). Direct deposit from checking is available on the same day. Also during the summer they rolled out mobile application for iPhone which can come very handy.
Not with stocks. You can learn to trade funds and options - this will give you a chance for daily opportunities. To make daily 1% gain significant (ощутимым) you'd want to have about 20K in your portfolio.
But you are correct - there are tons of opportunities right now, but most of them are on the *short* side.
I can also pick which batches of stocks I can trade (a single purchase makes a batch, so over the years you'll have some long term some short term investments instead of just seeing it as a single cumulative # of stocks). So you can choose to trade the ones that gained the most or the ones that matured the most... etc. Some discount brokers only do FIFO. (First come [purchased] first out).
Lets say you have stocks purchased in June, July and August. Now you want to sell positions opened in July. Or you just want to sell the ones you purchased last week - You can pick the batch.
This service was available only if you'd call your broker and he'd trade specific stocks for you. (Trades by direct call cost about $35) Now most of e-brokers allow you to do it on site by yourself, so you just pay regular price.
